Untrained Medicaid Planners Harming Senior Citizens: Florida Joint Public Policy Task Force for the Elderly and Disabled Florida seniors were losing money because of errors in their Medicaid applications completed by unqualified Medicaid planners. In conjunction with the Florida Supreme Court's hearing on the matter, Al conducted a media campaign to educate seniors and their families, resulting in articles and editorials asking the Court to tighten the law.

Data Security Breach Prevention: PCI University The rash of nationwide data security breaches has jeopardized businesses and consumers. PCI University was developed as a data breach prevention and educational tool for businesses. Al was retained to create awareness through national, state and local news media as well as industry publications. PCI CEO Charles Y. Hoff has become a national and local media resource.
Client Business Growth Workshops
Miorini Law, PLLC The law firm needed to build its client base by raising the profile of Yahne Miorini as the expert in estate planning and elder law. We established and promoted a series of workshops on related topics, and continue to do so. The workshops have been filled to capacity. While better educating her clients, potential clients and referral resources, Miorini Law's business has grown. Our promotion system allows organized registration, follow-ups, and a systematic method to measure the transitioning of attendees into clients.
Business Growth Campaigns
Giga Pets: Kentucky Fried Chicken To increase its customer base, KFC began selling computerized toys called Giga Pets. Al developed the media strategy. He selected a local charity so underprivileged children would receive the toys, KFC t-shirts, lunch and a visit from a Colonel Sanders look-alike. The media was invited to the lunch in which the toys were delivered by armored truck and the t-shirts were worn by the kids, virtually guaranteeing KFC's logo on the nightly news. KFC was prominent on every newscast and newspaper. The resulting increased patronage meant KFC restaurants sold out of Giga Pets even earlier than expected.
First and Goals: First Union Corporation To reach out to its current and future customers, First Union established the First & Goals program, in which 7th graders would be rewarded with prizes from the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars for improving their math scores and attendance. Al's successful media campaign resulted in reaching the bank's target markets via three local television stations and two newspapers.
Legislative Campaigns through the Media
Stopping a Legislative Threat to the Elderly and their Caregivers: Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys Florida law allows family members to be paid as caregivers of a relative. When a bill threatened that, many seniors were in danger because they could not afford to hire outside caregivers. Al conducted a media campaign encouraging the public to urge lawmakers to oppose the legislation. This effort, combined with the organization's lobbyist and grassroots campaign, helped stop the legislation.

Access to Patient Care: American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants In the early 2000's, a shortage of nurse anesthetists caused delays in surgeries. The American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants had to convince lawmakers in Florida to license an additional anesthesia provider, Anesthesiologist Assistants. To encourage the public and medical providers to contact lawmakers, Al created a media campaign, including editorial support, articles in medical publications, and fact sheets. The bill passed despite the opposition spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Cracking Down on Florida's Pill Mill Problem: Florida Society of Anesthesiologists Florida had an alarming rate of deaths from prescription drug abuse. Greatly contributing were pill mills, doctors illegally prescribing the drugs. A new law would create a statewide database alerting legitimate doctors, pharmacists and law enforcement if patients had been doctor shopping. Al conducted a successful media campaign motivating the public to contact lawmakers and the legislation passed.
